Friends Disaster Service, Inc. is an outreach ministry of the Friends Church.

Headed by Dean Johnson and organized in 1974, the Friends Disaster Service
consists of volunteers from all over the country who offer their time and
energies to provide relief in the aftermath of disasters, wherever they might
occur.

The Friends Disaster Service is funded solely by its annual auction and by
donations from caring supporters. All money received goes directly toward relief
efforts in disaster stricken areas, not only in the United States, but in other
countries as well.

The group provides the needed labor, tools, and expertise, as well as helpful
counsel in times of crisis. They do not provide building materials, but rely on
other sources for the necessary supplies.

Friends Disaster Service is a member organization of National Volunteer
Organizations Active in Disaster (NVOAD), and networks with other national
disaster relief organizations to bring about early relief and recovery to disaster
victims.
